CAMPUS COMPRISING A CRECHE, A PRIMARY SCHOOL, A SECONDARY SCHOOL AND TWO SPORTHALLS | OPEN COMPETITION ORGANISED BY THE CLIENT

In order to address the broad variety of conditions of its surroundings, this school project evolves around a vide that allows to treat the perimeter of the site “au cas par cas”.

This vide hosts a duo of sports halls underground and a collective courtyard on its surface. This courtyard plays the role of a city square, by bringing different users together: students of all ages, teachers and parents, but also other activities open to the public out of school hours.

This collective heart is surrounded by a gallery system that both buffers and stitches all programmes together. This galleries responds to the specific topography of the site by organising fluxes on multiple ground floors stacked vertically. On a domestic scale, they create a space of dilatation that offers opportunities for appropriation. In contrast with a linear corridor, the arches structuring them generate a succession of vestibules, meeting places and rooms that offer a canvas for each pupill’s personal development.
