BOGDAN & VAN BROECK ARCHITECTS won the invited competition for a feasibility study on the Rue Belliard in Brussels together with Idea Consult.
Rue Belliard is the most important exit-boulevard at the East side of Brussels and one of the two main axes (parallel to Rue de la Loi) within the unique historical grid of the Quartier Leopold and the European quarter.
Our mission is to define new methods to densify the existing urban tissue, to increase the housing fraction and building heights, to test various new urban typologies and to develop a new skyline. Different scenarios will be examined to enhance spatial qualities and to transform a mono-functional office and traffic system into a high quality urban space.
The final goal is to create a frame of reference to evaluate future projects and building permits.
